Time to start a new week! I’ve been working all weekend so I'm a bit slower getting my morning started with a latte at home while I catch up on a magazine. Next up, answer emails, a phone meeting with a collaborator and shooting images for stories this week.

Oh, I just read something interesting on Blavity.com:

"A new poll released by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs this week revealed that black teens are the biggest and most frequent users of mobile-friendly social media apps such as Snapchat and Instagram. The poll found that nearly 9 in 10 black teens use Snapchat, as opposed to 7 in 10 whites. A third of black teens say they use Instagram all the time compared to 1 in 5 white teens.
Lead researcher, Amanda Lenhart, whose primary focus is on teenagers and social media use, describes black teens as “first movers in many ways.” She went on to say, “It speaks to the level of embeddedness of the technology in black youth’s lives and their willingness to move into new platforms more quickly than their counterparts.”
However, researchers are concerned that this could be a handicap when it comes to education or employment especially for teens who don’t have access to other technology besides their cell phones. Lower-income teens are less likely to have tablets or traditional desktop computers, which cost more and can make it easier to write papers, do homework and fill out job applications.
So, that just means we need to teach our little brothers and sisters to utilize the right apps to get their schoolwork done first or help them find ways to create income through social media so a traditional job application is the least of their concern."

Enjoy the day!
